The birds we saw around Sand Lake were typical of the north woods in September. But my sister puts out a fair variety of food when they're there, so the birds are used to coming right to the front porch. I sat there for some time trying to get pictures; at least some of them turned out ok!
Blue Jay
Chickadee
White-breasted Nuthatch (on a distant pine)
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Downy Woodpecker
Red Squirrel - I love how his tail shows up in the sun!
I just love your bird pictures, and that red squirrel is even a cutie! Nuthatches and their upside-down ways are a personal favorite. :-)
ReplyDeleteI too love your bird pics, soon they be heading south along with us.
ReplyDeleteThe birds pictured in Stew's pictures do not migrate south; they spend the winter here with us.
DeleteGreat photos! The squirrel is a beautiful shot!
ReplyDeleteYou're a patient photographer to get these shots.
ReplyDeleteYes, our birds now come in for food. They are so interesting.
ReplyDeleteGreat selection of some of our iconic species. The only thing I might suggest is that you accord the Chickadee is its full name, Black-capped Chickadee. Although it is the only chickadee found in our area there are several other species of chickadee.....Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Mountain Chickadee, Boreal Chickadee...etc.
ReplyDeleteI think they turned out very well. : )
ReplyDeleteYes, I like the light on the squirrels tail too.
The woodpecker is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see all these birds ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Really handsome male red-breasted nuthatch, his color is great.
ReplyDeleteall regular visitors at my house, you photographed them beautifully!!! and i especially enjoyed mr. squirrel and his "illuminated" tail. you can't talk about the birds without including them!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Furry...
ReplyDeleteGreat bird shots...love the Jay!
We have a family at the cottage...very brave at the feeder, and I filled the birdbath for them! Loved it!
Cheers!
