You know it's been really cold when you see the temperature has gone up to -15°C and you think 'My, this is so warm'! It was -31°C this morning, and it did rise to -15 by mid-afternoon, and yes it felt 'warm' in comparison! (That's from -24°F to 5°F).
I don't know when I've seen a temperature this cold, before you consider the windchill. Last year was the year of excessive snow; this year is the year of excessive cold! (Sorry, that 2nd shot is taken through a screen window, a bit blurry).
So this morning it was several shots through windows in the house, not going outside at all. Shortly after sunrise, these were the shadows across the side yard. Still about 2' of snow on the level.
Looking out the kitchen window to the east - through that gap in the trees is the 'valley'.
We even had a few small icicles hanging from the eavestrough, somewhat damaged from when the ice came crashing off the roof in January.
And the view through the living room window looking west. Can I detect a little bit of pink cast across the snow by the rising sun? All shots taken from indoors, but I'm going to run out of views fast! Hope these temperatures don't last.
It went up to -14˚C here in Toronto this afternoon and I went for a walk! It felt balmy after the last few days. You were smart to stay in.ReplyDelete
If it was that cold where I lived, I'd be taking photos through the windows too! Stay warm!ReplyDelete
The only real difference today was that the winds had died down; otherwise the chill was just as much as yesterday. Cold shots!ReplyDelete
I don't blame you for taking photos out of the window when it's this cold. It's difficult to handle a camera in this cold.ReplyDelete
Oh that IS cold. I thought it was cold here at -7 F.ReplyDelete
Wonderful views but I could do without the temperatures.ReplyDelete
A nice tour around your house. Only -13 hereReplyDelete
Wow I don't know how you cope in such low temperatures.ReplyDelete
Holy cold. That is very cold. Your window shots are great though. Love thst one from your kitchen, looks like a framed photo ready for hanging in the wall.ReplyDelete
ok that does look realy really cold. what is that in celsiusReplyDelete
Cold but so gorgeous!ReplyDelete
We have been spoiled by the last few decades of mild winters. This is way winters a supposed to be. At least that is how I remember them up until the late 70's when they began to warm up.ReplyDelete
Cold is right BRR ! we have broke the old record of cold here this week so far it was -35C felt like -40C the other day , the sun is rising now and the temps are -30C feels like -35C so far this morning but will rise to a balmy -10C by this afternoon . Come on spring lol ! Lovely photos . Thanks for sharing , Have a good day and stay cozy !ReplyDelete
We are a bit warmer than you, but still cold to us. I think those are grand views to get through your windows.ReplyDelete
brrrrrr, we are cold here too and it's snowing, again!! pretty gold icicles!!!ReplyDelete
Its a cold morning on my thermometer also!!ReplyDelete
I can't even imagine that temperature at this point. Living up north we would occasionally see below zero, but never this much!ReplyDelete
Beautiful snowy shots! It's been chilly here too. I think we have about 10 above right now.ReplyDelete
In spite of the cold you have some gorgeous shots. I know that at a certain level cold becomes painful no matter how low but I don't think I would -31 C. We are going to have wind blowing it in to our area tomorrow.ReplyDelete
Gosh ---when I complain about our weather, I need to think about YOU.... We are having a frigid week (frigid for us) here... First we had an Ice Storm --followed by some snow. Looks pretty but very treacherous. AND--our temps are going down to MINUS 10 (F) here a couple of nights this week.... Kinda rare for TN....ReplyDelete
Try to stay WARM. Your photos are amazing...
Lovely photos! It's been cold here too. We had a little snow yesterday and today the temperature finally got up above freezing. I'm ready for spring.ReplyDelete
Yes it was chilly at your place. This is the way winter was back in the olden days when we were much younger. Only - 4 F here yesterday, not anywhere near as cold as winters were in the 1970s -- I miss those real winters.ReplyDelete
Merci. Single digits (above zero) is bad for us. I can't imagine this temp.ReplyDelete
