A Few More Barns

I'm planning some different posts for the next 2-3 weeks, but for today I have pictures of a few more barns around the valley.  It was one of those beautiful sunny but very cold days, so several shots from the car window, or from hopping outside and back quickly to avoid frozen fingers!

This is part of a large modern beef operation, with newer additions to what is probably the old bank barn in the back, and a fence that was casting a nice shadow.

I just thought the sun was shining so nicely on the south side of this barn, but it didn't appear to be in use, at least not for cattle.

Again there's an older gambrel-roofed barn in the back, but a large newer addition on the front.  I think this is a beef operation, and I liked the shadows on the snow close to the road..

And here's evidence of a barn long gone.  Yes, that tree is growing inside the silo, and it's been standing like this for as many years as I remember.

  3. There is a silo near here that has a tree growing out of it...they make great planters! The barns looks sturdy like they will last a several more years.

  6. Some fine old barns. That tree has found the perfect way to avoid being nibbled to death by deer, if deer do that in your part of the world.

  7. Your photos are wonderful with the deep blue skies as a backdrop. Seems there are so many broken down barns now on the Peninsula

  15. One thing about this very cold Southern Ontario winter is at least there have been some bright blue skies to cheer us up. I like the tree shadows creating lines across the snow.
