Visiting Scotland

I'm still trying to figure out how best to handle the new pages I've added to my blog, a steep learning curve!  How, for example, do I let you know that I've added new content to one of the pages?  I've now written and added a bit of personal advice for travelling in Scotland to my 'Scotland' page.  I've already had comments about that, and it's the most common comment among students in my on-line course.  You can read it here:

I've learned how to set up a page with links to topics, rather than one long post you have to scroll through, and thereby revised the setup of my Scotland page.  I've also learned how to wrap text around pictures - though still somewhat awkwardly.  But I suspect that if I want you to see the new content I actually have to post it on the home page of my blog, and later link it to the appropriate other page.

But this interferes with my blog being mainly about 'seasons in the valley', unless I just accept the fact that only some posts will fit under that heading and some won't.  The only alternative seems to be to announce any new content on the home page of the blog, like this.  Any advice on how to handle this would be welcome.  And in the meantime, feel free to check out my advice for travelling to Scotland if you're interested!

  1. I know one of the blogs I follow tends to have two blogs, one for his regular material and the other for travel photos. It depends on how often you'd update things.

  2. It should sort itself out in the end. Your blog has expanded, and you'll be experimenting with it. I'm really enjoying it! :-)

  3. I have and run two blogs a face book page and a web site , one of the blogs is more personal of our valley and home life the one I am commenting from now and the other more of just my photos the website is of both Papa's and my photos as we both do some photo shoots for customers as well and use it to show them our photos kind of our portfolio I guess one would say , I try to keep them all up dated as much as I can all though the blogs and face book page are easier to do then the website . Retirement lets me do all this lol ! plus getting out in all kinds of weather to enjoy my photography and the nature we are so blessed to have here in our valley and back yard . Hope it all works out for you . Good luck and thanks for sharing your lovely photos of your area and of Scotland and yes I have relatives there to but mostly in Britain lol ! Have a good day !

  4. I see you have created a new page on Scotland, and I think a post that refers us to the page is probably the best way. When we have many blogs to read, I don't think we look at the additional pages to read more than the cover page.

  5. oohhhh, I love the image!! I have "pages", most of which stay about the same, for instance the house tour. my "projects" page I update but not often enough. I think when you update a tab page and you would like for us to read it, you should just mention it in that days entry!!!!

I enjoy those tabs for it gives me more information about the person I am reading about!!!

  6. I think just letting us that you have posted something new on your Scotland page would work fine.
NICE scene. Love the colorful houses and shops.

  8. I have too many blogs and don't update most of them anymore. Started when blogs were "the thing." Whatever works for you is great. I doubt I'll ever get to Scotland, but Ontario is always possible!
