Blue Skies and Snow!

We've had very cold temperatures and lots of snow this week, too cold at times to even go for a walk safely with the wind chill.  But yesterday for a few hours the sun came out in a brilliant blue sky.  The temperature stayed at -20°C (-4°F), but the bright skies made for great pictures.  The first 5 are right around our house.

The south side yard.

And a view of a swamp that attracted me as I drove by, the cedars in the background catching the snow while the hardwoods in the foreground didn't.

I guess I'm a man of few words tonight, but my first two hour-long talks on Scotland went very well today.  Used up all my words doing that!

    Beautiful! Those are some great photos. Wish we had some of that down here, there's only about an inch at the house.

    Astonishing photos - I love the blue and white of a good wintery day. The last photo of the swamp is very interesting. I like the contrasts of the sky and snow.

    Those pictures are wonderful. It's so beautiful up there, and I'm glad to hear your talks when well. You must have done quite a bit of preparation beforehand, which always makes a difference. I'm glad I get to follow you around the blogosphere. :-)

    A tour around your yard was perfect! Evergreens actually allow us to see trees get big in our lifetime.

    It may be cold, but it sure makes for beautiful photos. I can almost hear the quietness, except for my feet crushing under the frosty snow.
