Back in those good old days when I was driving, one of the things I really noticed was the shadows across some of the roads I drove down, usually quiet side roads . These were the east-west roads of course and there was no traffic so I could just stop in the middle of the road and get a picture.. These were years with normal snowfall, much less than we're getting this year. On bright sunny days the patterns were striking.
Sometimes the snow was sticky and outlined all the tree trunks in white. Hope you enjoy these. These are for Rosalea, who featured a similar photo in her post of Feb. 2nd on her blog Chronicles from the Hill. Hope you all enjoyed them!
I could keep posting pictures of our snow - yes, it's snowing again today - but I don't want to overdo it, even though the snow is certainly overdoing it this year! I don't remember seeing snow outside like this - ever!
Those are all just beautiful! The third one down, particularly, looks so much like a place on our road. So happy to have inspired you to post these!
ReplyDeleteThe snowbanks out there now are much, much higher, and our road is not much wider than one lane with the banks tumbling back in after the plough comes through, as he can't get much speed up, pushing snow, coming up the hill. He came back up this morning and tried to wing the banks back, but there isn't much room between the edge of the road and the trees. Passing other vehicles will be dicey, but there isn't much traffic on our road, so not a big issue.
I love the shadows of the trees on the snow-covered streets, FG. Thanks for the great eye candy.
ReplyDeleteI love these deep winter pictures. The shadows are very pretty, especially in the black and white picture. Have a great day and keep warm.
ReplyDeleteI love the snow photos, FG. So Canadian after all!
ReplyDeleteThose snowy roads are gorgeous. We have sunshine today - very cold though.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you were inspired. Lovely theme.
ReplyDelete"These were years with normal snowfall..." It looks like that is changing. Great shadow/snow photos!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! No snow here this year in the Pacific NW. We used to get snow! Weird weather. But, thanks for the snow photos, FG, at least I will enjoy snow that way. :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoy the pix. Want to come and shovel?
DeletePost-card worthy, that first photo. Reminds me of some novels I read with this setting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment!
DeleteToo bad the last storm didn't leave sticky snow. Our ride about Monday was disappointing.
ReplyDeleteyou could NEVER over do it with me, these are enchanting!! driving, i remember when i could, it is not an easy thing to give up!!
ReplyDeleteThere is something very special about a sunny winter day. Even when it is cold, as long as one is dressed for it, or in a warm vehicle. I do love all the trees, it reminds me of northern Saskatchewan.
ReplyDeleteNice photos! You have much more snow than we do...we can see grass in some spots...the wind carries the snow away and leaves dirt in its place:(
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are stunning! The way the shadows appear blue is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteVery nice images -- as usual.
ReplyDeleteThese are like scenes of where I grew up.
