Winter continues here without letting up. It just snows and snows and snows. It never melts, so it just piles up here. I don't remember so much snow in recent decades! The snowbanks are 4-5 feet high, though I'm sure out in the country where it drifts the plows have cut 10 foot walls of snow. There's even a four foot pile right outside my window just from having the front sidewalk shoveled.
We haven't had many sunny days, though we certainly have longer daylight. I wish for the return of the sun even more than the disappearance of the snow. It's mostly dry snow that just piles up, but every now and then we get a day of wetter snow that sticks to all the twigs of the birch out front. At any rate, THERE IS LOTS OF SNOW!
Here's a view from our front sidewalk where it's been shoveled to across the street.
A person pretty well disappears briefly behind that snowbank when they're walking past.

Your heron is in true hibernation. That's a massive amount of snow, I wonder if there is as much in Whistler for the Invictus games. Beautiful sky, good enough to print and have a quilt sewn up.
ReplyDeleteWow that is a lot of snow. The heron has completely disappeared!! :)
ReplyDeleteAh snow! We have about an inch on the ground right now and it's supposed to be well above freezing tomorrow so that will be gone. Our granddaughter and her husband live in Virginia and have consistently gotten more snow than we have this winter. Presumably you're trapped in the house except for going out in a vehicle -- spring will eventually arrive.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of snow!!! The wet snow clinging to the birch twigs makes a lovely picture.
ReplyDeleteI photographed a sky like that last weekend. Interesting to see. Your photos are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope your snowstick returns soon!!
ReplyDeleteHere it has been more cold than snowy, but of course, we have been white since Dec 01. Today is an exception as we're getting a good dumping.
ReplyDeleteI know this makes it very difficult for you to get out and about. It is so much more like winters we remember. Once it stops falling, we will be out blowing and shovelling.
ReplyDeleteWe had 20 cm of snow last night and the city is a mess with nowhere to put the snow. We each dig out our own places as best as we can.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to put out a snowstick! Oh well, we're getting more soon. The wind is awful now.
ReplyDeleteYour back looks so pretty. I know it is not navigable, but at least it looks pristine!
So much snow! Looking forward to the return of your snowstick soon!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
As long as it doesn't melt too quickly and start flooding, I'm sure the farmers in the area will be happy with the moisture.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite the pile out front!
love the picture of the snow on the birch limbs. So pretty. Hang in there, blue skies and spring will arrive!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the return of your snowstick bird!
