We're lucky to live on a street where we all know one another, and neighbours say hello routinely in the street. We've had no fewer than four deliveries of baking in just the past few days.
One neighbour brought over hot scones, just out of the oven the other day, and the same a few days earlier. Another brought over muffins, and a third gave us some hot cross buns. It's been a good week or two!Meanwhile. we've had five days of rainy cold weather. I'm really looking forward to warmer temperatures returning tomorrow. I'm not quite ready for fall yet!
I love scones, fresh from the oven being the only way to eat them! Poor chippy is a varmint that is ruining your tomatoes...sorry to hear about conflict of interest there!
ReplyDeletewe have wonderful neighbors as well. there was a time, when i was not well, my neighbor would leave a box of groceries on my front porch and call to let us know they were there. good thing, we too have a cute chipmunk that would have gotten into them!! that's a great image of him!!
ReplyDeletesend us some rain, we could really use it!!
And he thought they were almost ready to eat too!! That coat, what a design, nature gives us so much. And then neighbours give as well, they are thoughtful and caring, I value ours so much. Scones, I remember my Mum baking scones and making hot tea for the power board men after they reconnected the power after a storm, we were the second to last on that rural network, and they would have been working since very early morning or maybe even most of the dark wet cold night. Their work was so invaluable too.I hope the rest of the tomatoes survive intact.
ReplyDeleteI once and only once grew corn. The dratted squirrels took a bite of each cob.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to hear that you have such great neighbors. So important!!
ReplyDeleteWe watched some kind of hawk swoop down and pick up chipmunks the other day.
They are so cute but those chipmunks…
ReplyDeleteWhether we like it or not we will get fall weather. some of it is very pleasant.
ReplyDeleteAw, your little buddy didn't eat too much, down here deer would eat the whole fruit -- they're gluttons.
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful to have neighbors that bake!! Those little Chippys can be so destructive:(
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to have good neighbors. Gord.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I wish I had those neighbours! Very nice of them.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I'm chuckling over the chipmunk. Apparently, it feels the need to taste every tomato...sort of like some people at a buffet.
That was a lot of rain, wasn't it?
