Here in Meaford the annual Scarecrow Invasion is on, after a two year hiatus because of Covid. Several hundred volunteers make up several hundred scarecrows that are placed at strategic locations around town. It all culminates in a parade on Sept. 30th, but there's lots to see in the meantime. This year is the 25th Anniversary.
A lot of effort goes into making all the scarecrows, most with a face drawn on orange garbage bag heads.Others are displayed in group settings like this one, looking to me like they're all in their pajamas.
A few are not scarecrows at all.
The story of the Wizard of Oz is popular, here with the Cowardly Lion, Dorothy and the Tin Man.
What a fun idea!! I think my favourites are those scarecrows having a bedtime story read to them.
ReplyDeleteYour environment causes too many chuckles...where are the serious people anyway? These all show a spirit of fun in life!
ReplyDeleteThat all looks like such fun. The parade must be great.
ReplyDeleteWestern's Purple, what a grand establishment. And those scarecrows, lots of thought goes into every one .

ReplyDeleteWhat fun! The creativity of the displays are amazing.
ReplyDeleteI kinda like all that Scarecrow stuff. It gives the local folks an opportunity to vent their creatives side. And it brightens the days for older folks along with inspiring the imaginations of the town's tiny tots:))
ReplyDeleteThey are creative. I'm lacking motivation, myself. Great to see it!
ReplyDeleteFabulous scarecrows :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
