Georgian Bay

Sunday afternoon we drove to Collingwood, seeking some more shrubs to plant.  Pockets much lighter, we drove the back way home.  Both going and coming, Georgian Bay was a blue as we have ever seen it.

Nottawasaga Lighthouse, Collingwood - can you see it?

Christian Island on the horizon beyond buoys marking Thornbury harbour.

Georgian Bay off Meaford.  The sandy plume in the foregound has been churned up by the waves; the further sand plume marks the course of the Bighead River where it empties into the bay.

Georgian Bay north of County Road 22.

  2. Yes, I could see it, but only because you told me to look! Wonderful pictures. :-)

  3. Looks like a choppy day on the bay, and the river must be filled with silt as it enters. The Fraser River looks that way where it enters the ocean in the Strait of Georgia. - Margy

  4. That certainly is blue. I's always somewhat surprising how far a river's silt is carried into a larger body of water.

  5. Blues and Teals, I can go with any of those shades, and a view forever. Lovely, every one.

  6. Gorgeous colours. Our North Sea is rarely as blue as that.

Your last picture is my favourite though, something about a quiet country road leading to water for me. :)

  9. I love lighthouses. We have one here, just about 30 minutes from home. Sadly, it's privately owned. Can see it between the two posts!

  14. Nice lake colors. Wished we had some Islands down here like that and more rocky shorelines like Georgian Bay has.
