Sewing Again!

If you've read this blog for some time, you'll know that Mrs. F. G. is a quilter and loves to sew.  But 9.5 months ago, when I went into hospital, her sewing abruptly ended.  Since then her time has been taken up first by visiting me for 7 months, and second by caring for me since we came home 11 weeks ago.  So I'm very pleased to report that Mrs. F.G. got back into her sewing room for 2-3 hours last week, and whipped up a couple of small sewing projects.

These are two simple corded bowls, made entirely from scraps of fabric.  I still don't quite understand exactly how she does this, but the result is quite striking.  These ones are 10-12" across, and 4-6" deep.  After all the hectic days we've had since getting home, tnis is a big sign of progress!

  3. It's good she's having some time for herself, we all need that sometimes. Those bowls are really colorful; when I was a boy we had some rugs that were probably made the same way.

  4. I love them. While I like the colours in the first one best, the second is quite festive. Tell her she's an amazing crafter and seamstress. - Margy

  6. Yay for Mrs. FG! For taking care of you, FG, and for returning to a very worthwhile (and obviously much loved) hobby. Though I must say everything we see of hers is way better than just a hobby. She's an artist. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  11. So happy Mom is back sewing. Is it too late to put in a Christmas order? I know a little girl and boy that would love something special from Nana.
