Losing Leaves

Yesterday I was trying to show you how the leaves have been rapidly falling.  Only managed one picture though, which doesn't provide for much of a comparison.  So here are a few more pictures that do allow for a comparison.

This picture was two weeks ago, when there were still quite a few leaves on the trees, especially the Sugar Maples.  The White ash trees always lose their leaves a little earlier.

This was today.  Most of the trees on our property have lost their leaves, with the exception of the maple on the right.  But that lone maple out on the golf course still has most of its leaves and always catches my eye.

I'd love to get out there and sit under that tree, bathing in the orange light, but I'm not sure I trust my chariot yet.

  1. It's much the same here- a lot of trees have lost their leaves, but some are holding on.

  2. The season progresses. Most of our maples have been leafless for several weeks, but the oaks have just begun to turn color.

  4. Our lawn is covered with leaves and more fall every day. We had a big wind storm and that brought down the weaker branches too. Gorgeous sunset tonight and rain to follow. Big contrast in leaves vs. not many leaves in your two views.

  5. We've had a couple strong wind storms so the leaves on the maples over on Goat Island are now all gone. They sure were pretty interspersed with the evergreens while they lasted. - Margy

  7. It's a pretty time of year, but already we're ankle deep in rotting leaves. Time to have a clear up outside.

  8. It doesn't take long for them to drop leaves, those trees look naked and cold! :)
Pretty yellow one, I see the attraction to wanting to sit under them.

  9. It looks like your trees are the same as we have here: some trees still have leaves, but most are already bare. :-)
