Big Steps!

I'mm up for a couple of big changes in the next twodays.  Tomorrow morning my traecheotomy comes out.  Not a big deal itself, but big implications.

It means that I'll be able to leave the  floor on my own - lounges, the cafeteria, the whole building to explore.  And those gardens!  I'll be outside every day!  And it let's them schedule the swallow test.

The swallow test is on Thurs., and if all goes well I'll be eating and drinking by Friday.  Yeah!  Big changes compared to the last 5 months.

Now just  bring on that motorized wheelchhair!

  3. Ah, progress! Hopefully all goes well with the swallowing and you can eat again -- just don't make a pig of yourself. I can only begin to imagine how good it will feel to be able to get outside after months in hospital.

  5. Soon you will be able to rip through the McDonalds Drive-Thru which if I remember correctly isn't too far from Parkwood. Are you going to get some racing stripes on that chair. Maybe some orange flames around the wheels somewhere. Will the hospital staff have to send out an APB (All Points Bulletin) when they can't find you?? That is sure to happen you know once you have your new wheels. Say, will you have to do an MTO drivers test for that speed machine??

  9. Woohoo! That is indeed exciting news! Well, if the McDonalds isn't close enough there is a chicken place just across Southdale and you can get a haircut at First Choice in the same strip mall. On second thought, that is a busy street, don't go there. :S
Great news, F.G. that you can soon get outside. Look out world!

  17. Huge changes and new accomplishments. Great! We got our internet back up at the cabin yesterday so I can do more blog writing and reading. It's been six weeks without our satellite dish. It was attached to our shed that had to come down due to a BC government order. All shore improvements had to be removed for float cabins around the lake. Our shed and stairs were built before the lease, but they are now enforcing the rules after 18 years. We had to install a pole below the high water mark to make it legal. - Margy
