Having fought forest fires for over 35 years I always had great respect for the skill and daring of the air tanker pilots we had on fires. It's a dangerous undertaking, especially with some of the aged planes they flew and the terrain. At least one of them was killed on a western fire the same year he had flown on one of our worst fires.
LD....I first started following you on your blog when this trajidy happen. I am still saddened for you each anniversary of his death. I too think of your son when I see water being dropped from planes on the news.
