Yes, the sky really was this blue!
Once I got the pictures loaded on the computer back home I was astonished at the quality of my new iphone camera. The first seven pictures, including the short video below, are all iphone shots. The camera in the SE iphone is a huge step above that in the iphone 4S!
There was quite a band of icy bits in the water, about 20 feet wide. I also learned that my iphone will now take a 'burst' of shots, in this case 7 in a row. It's quite neat to scroll through the pictures and watch the water move toward you in millisecond bursts.
I think what surprised me the most was the focus and sharpness of these pictures. In comparison, the 3 after the video are our little (but quite expensive) point-and-shoot.
I just don't think the focus on these last three is as good as the first 6 and the video above. But I did get good news from the camera hospital today. The lens for my bigger camera is fixable, and at half the cost of a new lens, so I hope to be back in business soon. Though I do think I'll keep taking iphone shots too.

The latest iPhone photos are so clear and brilliant colours. Then the video, that makes me long to be there.
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos. We too are having lots of rain and more rain so it makes it difficult to photograph anything in my world.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how good our camera phones are. Ours are Samsungs but I am also impressed with those pictures.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you download the videos but I enjoy them.
The iphone did a great job.
ReplyDeleteThose are impressive results you've achieved with the phone camera - it still doesn't seem right to take pictures with a phone somehow.
ReplyDeleteMy thought...more important you're out enjoying Mother;s gifts, than sitting in front of the TV like a vegetable.
ReplyDeleteHello, gorgeous skies and lovely views of the water. I am glad you lens is being fixed, much better than buying a new one. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteNow you know why I have stopped carrying a real camera and just use my iPhone 7. I'm not a professional photographer and only want to capture the moment, so it's all I need. But I'm glad to hear your other camera is fixable. :-)
ReplyDeletei am so happy to hear you are out and about this winter, capturing januarys beauty. those blue skies are good for the soul!!
ReplyDeleteThose waters look beautiful but treacherous!
ReplyDeleteInteresting shots of the icy bank.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, and I like the big panorama shot. Love how you have the entire beach all to yourself. I learned about burst mode by accident (holding my finger down too long)! It takes surprisingly good, sharp pics!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty pictures. Sure is nice to feel better and to get caught up with you again. : )
ReplyDeleteGotta love blue sky! Use any camera you like.
