Suddenly, the season for blooming flowers has arrived. Yes, we've had a sequence of flowers already over the past 6 weeks, but now we have numerous plants coming into flower at once. I look back to my post of April 19th and we had scarcely a few tufts of green appearing, with dry brown grass, but now it will scarcely slow down until September.
We went out the other morning and saw this stunning bright orange poppy. Mrs. F.G took the picture, as she did several below. The first Clematis has bloomed too, a beautiful deep red one.
This is merely the first of numerous Peonies you'll see over the coming weeks, but the deepest red one.
We have several different colours of Lupins that are just coming into bloom. Patches of Lupins or even fields of them are one of our best memories from our trips to the Maritimes.
This deep blue flower is a Spiderwort, not big and showy like the Peonies, but a nice flash of a different colour in the garden.
Another favourite to me is this Columbine. We've had quite a few in the past but this pink one is new this summer, another refugee from the Garden Centre which found a home here.
The temperature is certainly not feeling like summer yet, though we've had quite a few sunny days. However, last night it rained and everything was quite wet this morning. After the rain held off for awhile it has now started again; another indoor day for me.
We missed the rain! Your gardens are wonderful! So glad you are back to being able to comment.
ReplyDeleteSo much colour in your garden. A friend gave me some Lupin seedlings but they are tiny so I doubt that I will see flowers this year.
ReplyDeleteOur peonies are a few weeks behind. You are all a-bloom there! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt's the most wonderful time in the garden for sure!! So much pretty colour.
ReplyDeleteWhat great colors! So deep and so vivid...I love poppies, and the Clemantis! And the Lupin! Just outstanding!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Mrs. F.G. sure plans the blooms well for them to last all summer. I wonder if Lupins would be a good filler for our corral hill. We need something that takes over. :)
ReplyDeleteWe had more than an inch of rain yesterday, so it was an indoor day for me, too. Love all the beautiful and vibrant colors you have in those flowers. :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I noticed my garden starting to show it's finery today.
ReplyDeleteYour Clematis and Peonies are way ahead of ours but I'm guessing your flowers get much more sunshine each day than ours do.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is a continuing marvel.
ReplyDeleteColour is popping everywhere. This is true in our garden too, where we have almost exclusively native perennials. The ratio of flowers to weeds, however, is about five to one in favour of the weeds, and my back is reminding me that I spent the entire morning yesterday pulling them.
ReplyDeleteWow, the flowers are stunning! I especially like the lupins. I keep meaning to add them to my own flower bed.
ReplyDeleteDifferent blooms each week for several months to come. Out iris are, except for a couple of late blossoms, done for the year as are the columbine. Now the flowering onions are displaying their brilliant yellow -- beautiful flowers, but they spread rapidly.
ReplyDeletean inside day to do inside things, you will enjoy it and those gorgeous flowers need the rain!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous blooms and wonderful colours.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
You have a great variety of blooms. I really like your red clematis. My white one has buds bud no blooms yet. Yours must be growing in a warm spot.
