First Ride of the Year

Last Thursday it began to get actually warmish, and I got out for the first ride of the year.  Just up and down our own street a couple of times, but it was enough to break my six month winter hibernation.  I thoroughly enjoyed getting a little fresh air.

Not much has changed on the street, but I was pleased to see two homes had yellow and blue ribbons out front, in solidarity with Ukraine.  Good idea.

And yesterday I rode further afield, my easiest local walk without going downtown, and found these big sunflowers tied to a tree.  Sunflowers are the flower of Ukraine.

I trust the weather this week will get warmish again after our colder weekend (even a touch of white Sunday), and I'll be able to get out and head still further afield.  Unfortunately the weather forecast is for more colder days starting Saturday.  It's April!

  3. We have been putting up with cold, wet and windy days here in Connecticut. The coming week looks promising but the weather forecasters seem to have a tough job making it right. The situation in Ukraine is so distressing and it seems there is little we can actually do about it without triggering World War III.

  5. Yay! That's wonderful! I love the Sunflowers and although I support Ukraine, they first mean Daddy to me. ♥
I'm glad your weather is starting to improve. Just in time for our return!

  8. I hope the snow that has hit south eastern Sask and is now hammering Manitoba doesn't make its way to you.

I bet getting out in the fresh air, even for a short ride was very welcome. The photos and the support for Ukraine are fantastic.

  11. Good to know you're finally able to be out and about. One hopes that as we move into the second half of April the weather will improve. For all of Canada. I can't imagine the storm Manitoba is currently enduring.

  19. I am so happy for you! I guess it was just a taste of spring. Soon, we'll be in the warmer weather for the season! When we were driving looking for frogs, I noticed several Ukrainian flags hanging!

  20. That has got to be one great feeling. I know how good I feel when I get out and I bet you feel a hundred and fifty times more gooder than that after your long difficult winter hibernation. I hope we get some warmer weather soon so that you can get downtown and burn up the streets getting to the coffee shop.

  21. It remains that up and down time of year where it still makes sense to dress warm.

  22. I put up a yellow and blue wreath, and perhaps more important, made a donation to Doctors without Borders. I feel rather helpless.
