Yet More Fall Colours

Still playing around with photos of the tree out back.  These 8 photos are partial tree photos where I look for the tree trunks to be partially visible and provide some vertical structure.  They differ in terms of lighting. the first 5 taken under cloudy conditions, the last 3 taken in bright sunlight.   Let me know what you think.  Some of these are really too similar to tell the difference, but you should be able to see a difference between the first 5 and the last 3.

  1. Love the autumn before the leaves fall. The dark tree trunks and branches provide depth and background for the leaves and the blue sky and white clouds provide further background depth. Thanks for writing and sharing your photos. I haven't written for some time and I just want you to know I read every post you write, sharing your part of Canada.

  2. They are lovely! My faves are #4 and #6. The sunlight adds more shadow but I think I like the low light filters through the branches best.

  3. Beautiful! Nice to have these to look at when all the leaves are fallen. :-)

  4. The sun is obvious in the last three photos. That gorgeous tree hardly needs the sun to brighten it however.

  5. They are all lovely but the shadows and contrasts in the last 3 are my favourites! What a wonderful day it was today!

  6. The colors in the ones taken under a cloudy sky are nicely saturated and the brightness and contrast are nicely balanced. Autumn colors in sunny conditions are adversely impacted by glare and too much contrast; using a circular polarizer can improve the image somewhat but the colors still aren't as good as under clouds.

  7. I like the earlier muted photos in this case. I find to others a little too contrasty for my taste. Backlighting would usually work better in that type of photo, but I know that you have to get what you can get when you can get it.

  8. This year seems to be the best of fall colors everywhere on the North American continent. So lovely.
