This Time It REALLY Snowed!

The snowflurries started Monday morning, lake streamers bringing moisture off Lake Huron, dropping it in a long narrow band right over our house!  We got 8-10" on Monday, but Tuesday dawned bright and sunny.  With blue skies it made for good pictures.

The view out the back was beautiful.

The Norway Maple leaves seemed to have fallen stem first into the snow, lodging vertically like little yellow soldiers across the white.

Of course the winter shadows were out there.

We had some tree trimming done on Monday, so this is a new view from the den, no longer impeded by low branches.

Here is the 8-10" of snow on the planters, with Mrs. F.G.'s arrangement looking more white than green.

Snow hung heavily on the neighbour's cedars, with one lonely Redbud leaf.

And our heron/ostrich got to bury its head for the first time.  By 7 a.m. several men on the street were out  with their snowblowers, and our own snowblowing service got here by 7, well in time for the caregivers who arrive about 7.45.

  1. We are still snow free down here. Your shots look gorgeous but I can gladly wait a while before I see such scenes out my window.

  2. That is a huge fall, the Heron will no doubt find slim pickings under that blanket. Love the view through the trees.

  3. So beautiful! You not only got to enjoy it all, but the caregivers were not deterred. I love to see fresh snow, even with little daggers of leaves! :-)

  6. That's a lot. All we are seeing is stray flakes.

  7. You sure did get a good dump of snow alright. We are still green down here in Bayfield. That's kinda neat the way those yellow leaves implanted themselves in the snow. Have you thought of hooking up a snowplow blade to the front of your chair:))

  8. That's a rather brutal transformation to take you deep into winter! I doubt we'll get anything like that all winter, though you never can tell these days.

  9. It looks so pretty. Will it stay or will it go? Only rain here.

  10. The snow when it first falls is so pretty. Love the snow pile on the heron, and the photos of the tree limbs with the snow are lovely.

  11. Beautiful but it must make getting around more difficult. The west coast is bracing for another atmospheric river including strong winds that are keeping ferries in port. Arizona is cooler today but nothing like that. - Margy

  12. Absolutely beautiful, much better than the gray dreary days that are so common this time of year.

  13. You really did get dumped on! I can say it is pretty when I'm here and well out of it. :)

  14. I like the maple leaves in the snow! Looks very nice with the snow. We had alot of fog for a few days. Then there was sunshine yesterday, which is our thanksgiving in USA! Nice walk outdoors with my husband PL. We may get alot of rain tomorrow. I will be staying at home as I went grocery shopping after I got off work today. Lots of vehicles due to Black Friday that were going to the outlet mall. I had to go on a back road to go home, instead of waiting in line to go over there interstate. Most we've seen in years, even cars/pick up trucks on our street, driving and parking. 10-15 minute walk from here. We lived here before the outlet mall even existed! Stay warm and cozy! Have a good weekend!

  15. The one with the yellow leaves is the best. Now everything is tucked away asleep for the next few months.
