Every year we get one week-long stretch of 'deep winter'. The temperature plunges (last week was -30°C); the windchill rises and pushes the temperature lower. Roads get closed and school buses are cancelled. On Friday all roads in all directions were closed. People working outside even get sent home. And the wind blows the snow incessantly.
This was the back door onto the deck, snow pushed up against the glass for the bottom 2', and a 3 foot drift beyond that.
At times it was snowing and blowing heavily.
Then it stopped snowing and just blew across the golf course. That big drift was still there.
The snow got plastered directly on any rough-textured surface.
And on the back windows. Hopefully our week of deep winter is over and won't return!
Everyone in Canada and the northern US will surely be glad to see this winter gone.
ReplyDeleteHope the both of you are keeping Safe and Warm. Enjoy!
It's about time.
Most winters bring a period of severe weather. It's not nice but it happens.
ReplyDeleteI think you folks sold your place in the country and moved into town just in time.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos . We had high winds snow squalls and windchill's of -35C all week on and off no road closures for us but we aren't in the snow belt area either we are below it and now it is mild and melting and the temps are to be going to hit +6 here by Wednesday and lots of rain hope it doesn't flood our area again with the snow melting fast and rain on top of it all . Oh well Canadian winters are weird and different every year stay safe and cozy and have a good weekend !
ReplyDeleteThose days have always been a pleasure to me as long as when day is done I can get into a warm place.
ReplyDeleteSure looks cold. Like the picture of the shed in the snow.
ReplyDeleteFreezing rain here today! Spring is coming, though!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe've had that deep cold here. Today it's snowing again, but more moderate.
ReplyDeleteNot a lot of that happenin' in Tampa
ReplyDeleteIt sounds miserable, but your pictures are sure pretty. :-)
ReplyDeleteNorthern VT was like that, too, when we lived there. Beautiful and deadly all at once.
ReplyDeleteThere are times it is good to be indoors. Looks like that was one of those days.
