Yes, it is still March today as I write this, and March never knows whether it's ready for spring or still has a bit of winter left to visit. And so we had yet another gentle snowfall overnight last week, continuing what seems like a never-ending cycle.
It was only a couple of inches, but it turned the world briefly white again.
And the Daffodil shoots out front didn't even seem to notice!
But I'm happy to report that things are now back to normal, and the only bit of snow left is down in the lower left corner, in the shade of the house.
And the Hellebore survived again, raising their blooms to a rainy late March day. The dangerous ice storm the forecast warned us of ominously hasn't materialized yet. But we did lose power at an awkward stage as they were attempting to get me out of bed.
Interesting. Somewhat weirdly the weather in London has been lovely. Beautiful sunshine, blue skies, the cherry blossom has been fabulous. I suspect we are all worrying that this is summer… and then what. You can see my photos on Instagram if you can find me (probably not difficult for you),
ReplyDeleteMore snow overnight here, and into the morning. I had to shovel, again!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy those spring flowers.
Do you have a battery back up? We have just bought Hugh an electric lounge chair, that has a long battery life if there is a power cut. It reclines, has 2 motors, one for the back and one for the foot part, and can lift him to a standing position. The snow, quite contrary as it comes and goes, your heron will be happy when summer arrives.
ReplyDeleteThe lift that gets me out of bed has battery life or 3-4 days, and we've now got the generator sorted out too.
DeleteSuch hardy plants. Winter is not finished with us yet either. More snow to come.
ReplyDeleteHope the storm misses you!
ReplyDeleteAt least when it snows now it doesn't stick around for very long.
ReplyDeleteYour winter does not want to say goodbye ... yet!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Those flowers are tough. We sometimes get ice and snow on our tulips and they seem to always turn out ok. I was outside in a strong cold wind with sprinkles and it was miserable.
ReplyDeleteYes, it has been a tough aggravating winter alright and I don't think it's quite finished with us yet.
ReplyDeleteThankfully the hellebores can cope with late snows and daffodils don't give up easily either.
ReplyDeleteWinter certainly isn't let go of the North this year.
ReplyDeleteEarly April isn’t much better than confused March.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they were able to get you out of bed, finally. I keep forgetting the things you have to endure daily.
ReplyDeleteSort of typical for early spring. Here, closer to the tropics, we've probably seen the last snow until late fall.
ReplyDeleteDitto here, except we are totally white still.... There were tiny red nubs of tulips sticking up before they got buried and crusted over. Had to look really hard for them!
