My computer works again!

Hello again out there.  Yes, my computer works again.  My local repair guy (the third store I tried, but at this one I got a real live voice) showed up this morning, just 48 hours after I called.  Windows flashed across the screen as his fingers danced across the screen and I had not the foggiest idea what he was doing.  But after 20 minutes it was back to normal and it seems to be working fine now.

Apparently my computer thought it had two screens attached, and it was sending some programs (the ones I thought I had lost) to the second screen, which actually didn't exist.  He also advised me on upgrading my security software and will order a replacement hard drive for me, this time a solid state one which should be much faster.  They will take the computer away one day next week to get that set up, and at the same time set it up with a microphone and voice recognition software so I can dictate rather than type.  Maybe I can get some serious writing done then!

HOWEVER, Lightroom will no longer import photos from my iphone, so I can't access any of my recent photos to post them!@#%$XX!  I don't know whether this is an iphone problem or another new computer problem.  Now I have to try some other tricks to see if I can overcome this problem.

  1. On my iPhone, I go to photos, tap a picture I want and then select upload. It goes to a screen that allows you to select more photos and then send yourself "mail" with the photos attached. Email yourself and when it asks you the size of .jpeg, make sure it is over 100 kb. which ensures good resolution for computer screens - as you know, larger size photos take longer to send and allow more enlarging. It's the easiest way for me to send my phone pix to my computer which I save in pictures and then open them up in whatever software you want. I really look forward to your blog including pictures.

  3. Good news, you'll enjoy the solid state drive. Hope the tips from IPhone folks help clear up that issue too.

  4. Since I have over 6,000 photos on my Mac, it was a real pain to get them transferred, so I signed up for 50GB of space in iCloud, for .99/month. Each picture I take now shows up on my phone, iPad, and MacBook. I am a happy camper. And I too look forward to your posts, with or without pictures. :-)

I bluetooth my pictures from my phone to my computer.

  6. Best news this week. Solid state drive or SSD, it will be so fast, and with voice recognition, the wonders of technical availability these days, anything that will help. Down here, stripping wallpaper, bogging up small dents or lines in the wallboards, ready for our painter on Monday. How wonderful it is to have a daughter fly up from the far south for 12 days.Help galore, along with a massive bunch of deep pink, darker red and cream peonies.

  9. Sounds like some good vibrations coming your way. We certainly do live in a marvelous age of communications and medical advances. Despite the world and it's increasing woes we certainly have many things to be thankful for. And it's always a pretty good darn feeling when one gets ones computer working again too:))

  11. Yay! Glad it is fixed. My husband had some tests the other day at their hospital and their computer system went down. We had to wait three extra hours so they could get the test results to the doctor without the computer and then process his papers manually.
