One of my favourite summer wildflowers (I refuse to call them weeds!), is the New England Aster. It's also our last bright wildflower of the season. I've been watching for it this year, and I thought I'd missed it when I found that bloom up at Big Bay. But now I'm seeing it all over the place. It's in the ditches, down private driveways, and in parking lot corners. So here are a few pictures to celebrate the New England aster!
This big plant was found out in the open sun in the parking lot where I go for physio.
These plants were found in the strip of ditch 20 feet wide and 100 feet long that the homeowners deliberately planted to summer wildflowers of all kinds a few years back
And this plant was found at the end of a driveway just around the corner. The blooms have a beautiful pinkish tint. So next time you're out for a drive, keep your eyes open for the last of the summer wildflowers!
I like asters too! They bloom profusely up on Mt. Hood.
