It's been dry as a bone here for several weeks, people are beginning to talk of drought, and all the lawns are turning brown, Even the tomatoes have been having a hard time. But finally it rained the past two days, a slow all-day rain that brought much needed moisture to the garden. I saw it in the water droplets left on the Crocosmia leaves.
For some reason the long thin leaves of the Crocosmia flowers do hold the water droplets, leaving beautiful patterns in their wake. The drops of water show up so clearly against the green.
Nice! We had a few surprise droplets last night for a few seconds. lol

ReplyDeleteI know of two large plant nurseries here in western Washington, in the usually wet rainy area of the world, two of them that are closing because the rain has stopped, there has been almost no rain this year, and they can no longer afford the water to maintain their plants ... and it's too hot. I'm in the USA and I'm doing everything I can to counter Trump's ignorant stupid damaging decisions about climate change ... if you folks in Canada can help as well, please do. Oh my word, FG, your photos of water droplets are gorgeous, thank you.

ReplyDeleteSo it's not just the Lady's Mantle's leaves that bead the raindrops and look so pretty. I'll have to check my Crocosmia next time we ever get rain.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was little I was totally obsessed with the little drops of rainwater in the centre of lupin leaves. As soon as it stopped raining I was out in the garden drinking these little drops of water!
