Our Redbud Tree!

There is no other tree that I love more than our Redbud tree when it's in bloom!  Redbuds are native a little further south, and they're a small understory tree in the forests of places like the Great Smoky Mountains.  But they do survive well here if they are planted and cared for.

It's feeling like early summer here as the world turns green and the leaves come out on the trees.  The garden is looking great!!

One of our two Redbuds is out in the front yard, in full sun, and it's been in bloom for a week or more.

The flowers are so tiny and jammed together, it's really hard to get a good picture.

But there's no denying the pink colour!

  3. I love them too. We didn't have them here when I was a kid before global warming.

  6. It is a favorite tree of mine as well, but our Redbud tree did not bloom well last year or this year. The blooms were sparse, and I'm seeing dead branches. Sad.

  8. I do love those red bud trees. On our way down to Lavale, we see lots of them growing like weeds along the mountain.

  10. I live in West Virginia and redbuds are native here. They use to line a highway I travel often. A few years ago Autumn Olive trees invaded our part of the state and pretty well killed them all. They have taken over prime agriculture acres and are now on the ban list in WV. But big box stores still sale them!

  11. What a gorgeous tree! Mine died a couple years ago. Apparently they get some disease here sometimes, so none of mine have lived longer than 10-15 years, but i do love them. I found a tiny baby one today, so I will try to move it to a better location.
