For the first time this year I drove myself downtown for lunch, and home again after. It's beautiful weather and the new chair behaved very well. It was 100% charged when I started and the same when I got home! Here are a few of the things I saw.
It started with the enormous White Ash stump around the corner, I was passing by when they were finishing up the cut last fall. I'm wondering if they're just going to leave the stump. Then it was down the Collingwood Street hill. That hill does feel a little steep as you go over the top!
I got down near the shore and discovered the playground in the little park had been rebuilt. I figure I'm far enough away that you can't recognize the people.
There was a plumbing truck across the street and they were laying out the underground part of the pipes and pressure switches. Be fun to see when it's finished.
Four Million Views!
was startled to see that I have passed four million views in 15 years, 4,022,408 to be specific! So thank you for all the unwavering support. Writing this blog and reading yours provides my main mental activity every day, so it means a great deal to me.

Mental activity is fine, good for the brain and soul. I make sure that my activity is active with Waffle, Wordle, Trivia each day and cryptic crosswords. That stump is huge, I wait also to see what happens there. It must be wonderful to have weather fine enough to go downtown .
ReplyDeleteI bet that feels so good. Do you meet up with friends, or are you happy to dine alone?
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you have that many views. I love coming and seeing what you are posting.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great ride you had!! Must be so nice to get outside on these nice days. That is a BIG stump. The hill looked pretty steep and I know hills are steeper than they look in pictures.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on all those views!!
soooo good to get out and get some fresh air. i have trouble on hills like that with my "zinger chair". it's good to feel confident in your wheels to be out on your own, i am striving for that!! i have seen bird houses put on stumps like that. i have also seen stumps that are lower carved out a little and flowers planted in them!! looks like a great neighborhood!!
ReplyDeleteDo we get to see a pic of this marvellous set of wheels? So happy to hear you have regained your freedom to roam.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are doing so well, Stew. Finally you (and I ) are getting better riding weather. Rollin 'rollin' rollin'
ReplyDeleteYou had a great tour. It's good that you can get out on your own.
ReplyDeleteNice ride, with lots to see and enjoy. I bet it will be even better when the leaves start appearing on the trees.

ReplyDeleteSo pleased to read this and I enjoyed the photographs from your outing ... here's to many more.
All the best Jan
PS Congratulations on all the views of your blog.
Wow, there's a lot of good wood in those stumps. I'll be right over with my chainsaw! Ok, maybe it will take me a few weeks to get there. :-) Ok, ignore me. But I like that your new wheelchair battery seems to be holding a charge longer ... my new cell phone is too ... my old one would die in 5-6 hours even just sitting idle, but this one is still at 95% after five hours. Technology can drive us crazy, but it sure can help too.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see the splash pad is being rebuilt! Our grandchildren have always enjoyed playing there when they come to visit.
ReplyDeleteIt must have felt wonderful to go downtown by yourself - there is nothing like being outside after a long winter!
That is quite a ride! Nice to know your chair is more than up to the challenge.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be fun, a splash pad!
ReplyDeleteTruly a scenic Spring journey downtown and back, and it must be reassuring to know your new chair has the staying power to get you there and back, plus power to spare.
ReplyDeleteAlmost forgot.....Congrats on the 4 million views. Well done, and I do fully understand when you say your blog provides your main activity every day. I can very much relate to that.
