Yesterday I watched two tiny Red Squirrels chase each other madly around a tree trunk. Every now and then they'd stop and sit still for a moment before resuming their mad dash. I think this has got to be a sign of spring! Sorry I don't have a video! Use your imagination!
Here they go, one after another.

Oh to have that agility and youth and health!! Entertainment without leaving home, that's the very best.
ReplyDeleteThe little beggers have invaded my house! One ran up and down the basement stairs and the other scooted through the livingroom, downstairs bedroom, the out the back door that we popped open for it. The cat and dog just watched the show. :(
ReplyDeleteRed squirrels are so tiny. They are cute!!
ReplyDeletethese chases can be fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteI love watching red squirrels. They are so fast!!
ReplyDeleteIt is chase time here too on mild spring-like days. Love that last photo especially!
ReplyDeleteThe reds are very quick and active.
ReplyDeleteThey look young or at least small. Like when we watch the chipmunks on the Ridge. I guess they are like little kids too. Fun entertainment!
ReplyDeleteCute, and I'm betting you'll see more squirrels in a couple of months. :p
ReplyDelete"Our February entertainment!"
ReplyDeleteGrey squirrels visit the garden here and they are fun to watch.
Many thanks for the photographs.
All the best Jan
Might well be a female leading a male on a mating chase; if he can keep up he might be a worthy mate.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! Our squirrels are doing the same.
