We've got some pretty interesting flowers down our street at this time of year, none of which grow a5t our place. I have to give the neighbours credit for the plants they grow, and they all seem to be in bloom at once, in August.
First are the Hibiscus, the enormous, some say 'dinner plate' size flowers that don't look as if they can be rea;! These ones in light pink.
This is a plant of the tall grass prairie that once extended into southern Ontario. The large opposite leaves meet each other wrapping around the stem and catching a tiny bit of water.
I have that pink hibiscus. The cup plant is a nee one for me. I will try to catch up my reading and comments. Life seems to have gotten too busy.

ReplyDeleteThe hyacinths are so different from our neighbour's. They are barely off the ground. I don't know it they are supposed to be that way or if it is because they receive no care. Well, my wife keeps them alive with a bit of water.
ReplyDeleteThe hibiscus are gorgeous, never seen them so large. I'm told the "cup plant" is a weed ... ha! not so much! It's gorgeous. My hydrangeas are different, as well ... purple and gold. Wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteThe hibiscus are gorgeous. One of our neighbours has a hydrangea, and I'd love one in my yard, but I don't know where I'd put it. The cup plant is something I'm never seen.
