A Study in Blue

Our Dwarf Iris are now in full bloom, the first flower in our garden each spring.  And I think the brilliant royal blue colour is about the nicest colour all summer.  They disappear fast though, so I wanted to capture as much of this beautiful blue as I could.  Here are the results!

It's just a small patch, about a dozen very short but very bright blue Iris in our scree garden.

It really is hard to beat this colour.

By late afternoon the sun was catching the petals, changing their colour to a lighter blue in the sunlight.  There was even a bee or two that visited while I was there, on Apr. 2nd!

  5. Hello!:) Your Dwarf Iris are absolutely stunning. You captured their glorious blue colour and beauty brilliantly in your macro images. It does seem a shame that they don't last long, so thank you for sharing.:)

  10. Just gorgeous... I guess, besides the yellows of spring, my other favorite color is that gorgeous purple.... LOVE it...

None of our Irises are even budding yet this year... Since we may get a freeze/frost this weekend, I'm glad they haven't budded or bloomed yet.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  16. I saw my first bumblebee and mason bee this week. I am still waiting for my mason bees to emerge from their nesting tubes. When that happens I should have lots. I already have new nesting blocks set out ready and waiting. - Margy
