Computer Crash!

My big computer crashed this morning and the hard drive appears to have died.  I've lost all my files and photos since the last back-up (longer than it should have been), hopefully only temporarily if the computer whiz can retrieve them.

I'll be back once I sort out some photos (or get some new ones) on my laptop.  Wish me luck!  And I won't bother you with other stories about me and computer gremlins!

  1. I feel your pain. Big help, I know. There used to be some software available that could be used to keep files on two computers sync'd via the internet. Windows Live Mesh was one, but that one is defunct now. Another option might be to start using cloud storage for important files. Dropbox, Windows SkyDrive/OneDrive or Google Drive, etc. might serve the purpose. Good luck with the recovery.

  2. So sorry to hear this... I know how frustrating it can be. We back things up ALOT --to keep from losing anything. So far --so good for us... But computers pick their own times to fail.... Hope you get it back soon and hope they can retrieve your photos/files.

    Hugs,

  3. Oh Dear!! This is really bad news. and I hope the files can be safely restored. Will you have to get a whole new system, and is it a desktop or laptop or Apple? I'm hoping for good news soon, Maybe you need some hugs, to ward off the dreadful feeling of doom... Jean.

  6. Ah, technology! I back up all my file on an external hard drive even though they're already on two computers -- a Windows and a Mac.

  7. I'm so sorry to hear that! It even happened to a friend of mine yesterday - thousands of photos gone! It's a scary reality I guess. I do back up my computer once a week on an external hard drive though. Guess I'll do it tomorrow. I could be #3!! All the best.

  9. That has been quite an impasse, putting a halt to the goings of your site like that, albeit temporarily. Well, I'm glad your back and still on it. I hope you keep on updating your blog, with software and hardware that I'd surmise is now working good as new. All the best!

  10. Realizing that your computer crashed without your files being backed up must've been totally depressing. I can only imagine how bothered you were while you’ve been trying to reboot your computer to retrieve your photos. It’s been months now, and I do hope you were able to retrieve those lost files and photos.
